Board of Directors
The school is operated by the Lycée Louis Pasteur Society, a non-profit organization, the members of which are the parents or guardians of students enrolled at the Lycée. The Society is governed by an elected board of directors. All members of the Society, who are in good standing, may run for election to the board and are eligible to cast a vote in the election held at the Annual General Meeting of the Society.
The Board of Directors brings varied backgrounds and expertise to their role. They follow a governance model, assisting the Lycée Louis Pasteur with sound strategic planning and with direction and support in achieving the mission of the school. The Board supports the Head of School and staff in maintaining the high standards of excellence at the Lycée.
Head of School
The Lycée Louis Pasteur is led by the Head of School, Hervé Gagliardi, an ex-officio member of the board of directors. Mr. Gagliardi joined the LLP as Head of School on September 1, 2010. He relocated to Calgary from Génolhac, France, where he served two successful years as the Principal of Collège de Génolhac (Junior-High School).
Mr. Gagliardi was educated in France and completed his Bachelors’ degree and Teacher Certification at the University of Metz, qualifying as a History & Geography teacher in 1989. He taught at a variety of schools in France before starting an extensive career abroad: first at the Lycée Claudel in Ottawa, ON where he taught for two years, and at the Lycée la Pérouse in San Francisco, CA where he spent six years. Hervé returned to France and subsequently qualified as a school principal in 2005. He was appointed Assistant Principal of Collège de La Grande Combe, in the south of France, for three years before his assignment as the Head of School of the Lycée Louis Pasteur.
Hervé is passionate about international education; he firmly believes that instruction shall enable all students to acquire a training that is solid, rich, balanced and open to the world, so as to become active and contributing global citizens. In order to achieve this, he believes that students must gradually learn how to work in a rigorous and autonomous manner, with the support of their parents, teachers and school personnel who must work together, hand in hand, for the purpose of educating the children.
School Council
School Council is presided over by the Head of School and meets a minimum of three times during the school year to discuss pedagogy and everyday school issues. The council is comprised of members from all stakeholder groups, including staff, administration, parents and students – some of whom are elected by their peers.
